The Business Model of Oura

Oura Health is a Finnish company active in the health technology and wearable sector. Oura sells the OuraRing, a smart ring that is now in its third generation. Several sensors are built into the inside of the ring, including an optical heartbeat sensor, a blood oxygen sensor and a skin temperature sensor. Together, these sensors allow for an accurate picture of the user's health, through features such as sleep analysis, menstruation prediction, heartbeat recording, trends or readiness score. Through the Readiness Score and Trends, Oura allows users to see their health status at a glance without having to understand the data behind it. All data is processed in the Oura app and on the Oura servers. Oura emphasises that all data is anonymised or pseudonymised to preserve the privacy of the user.
