The Business Model of Living Packets
LivingPackets aims to reduce or completely eliminate the packaging waste that inevitably arises in eCommerce businesses. To pursue this mission, Alexander Cotte (CEO) founded LivingPackets SA in Nantes (France) together with Fabian Kliem and other co-founders in 2016. At the four locations in Nantes (FR), Paris (FR), Berlin (DE) and Lausanne (CH), the focus is on developing and marketing the circular packaging concept of THE BOX and the associated business model. LivingPackets sees packaging as a service for other companies. The various offers are comparable to a rental, with revenue generated by a service fee. THE BOX has already been successfully used in pilot programmes by France's largest telecommunications company OrangeTM and Cdiscount, one of the largest eCommerce platforms in France. Although mass production and market launch are still pending (as of 2021), LivingPackets' vision shows an attractive and promising alternative for the future. THE BOX is not only environmentally friendly and reusable up to 1,000 times, but also equipped with various sensors and systems that help make shipping logistics safer and more efficient. LivingPackets can already boast patents, thus ensuring its uniqueness. On the one hand, the concept succeeds in advancing environmental protection in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals, and on the other hand, it optimises the logistics industry. Furthermore, THE BOX fundamentally revolutionises the online shopping experience of end consumers and thus offers advantages for all parties involved in e-commerce transactions.
