Braskem offers a diversified portfolio of chemistry and petrochemistry products used by companies from various industries around the globe. It is the world's leading company in the production of biopolymers. Its portfolio includes thermoplastic resins such as polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and some basic chemical raw materials. Its innovative approach was to replace petroleum as a resource for plastic production with its homeland's renewable material sugarcane. Sugarcane ethanol is processed into ethylene, the hydrocarbon element used for plastic manufacturing. With this product, the company can reduce greenhouse gases by saving two tons of carbon dioxide for each ton green polyethylene generated.
